I don't see a huge problem using FTP, as its not like the ISP is going to look that closely. But if you need segmentation than your probably right. The main one I'm looking for is archival history so it doesn't copy files that previously existed but now are moved or deleted off the destination folder. I was not impressed with FileZilla at all especially feature wise personally. But if not thought I would throw out another option for those looking for something with pretty good sync ability. If anyone wants to try it out and post their results I would be curious to see how it handles. which allows them to create and edit backup tasks manually.

This is why i want to see how it works for others as well. The Syncovery data backup and synchronization software tool can be just the right answer for. My LAN meter was saying it was reaching 15MB/s so not sure if that was due to overhead or what as the FTP was only reaching ~10MB/s. I ran a few speed tests and my internet is currently giving me about 120Mbps so it was maxing out my connection with current speeds. I have not tried to play with the different routes they offer yet. Now this information is based on my location (US) and FeralHosting which is known to be somewhat slow or hit or miss for some people.
With parallel files i could easily max my download on FTP with TWO files lol. SSH (with library SSH experimental): 1.5-2.5MB/s (for one file NO segmentation) SSH (with library SFTP): 0.5MB/s (for one file NO segmentation) Another draw back is the fastest speeds are using FTP not SSH.įTP: Getting 10MB/s (for one file NO segmentation) While it can't do parallel download of segmented files, it can do parallel downloads of files so as long as you don't have one large file it appears pretty solid. The one downside is that syncovery doesn't do segmentation though it can split large files to smaller sizes, auto resume, block updates (alpha release), multiple profiles, and lots and lots of other settings. CutFTP was decent with segmentation (4 parts) turned on but not the best software. I ran a few tests since i was getting super slow transfers using other programs that couldn't run as a scheduled service easily. This is a common program for backup in other groups ie r/DataHoarder but it can also sync using different Internet protocols including FTP. I have not seen this suggested here before and would be curious if others are willing to try it to see what speeds they get.
